North American Promoter of Justice, 1981-1991
Scope and Contents
The Promoter of Social Justice coordinates social justice advocacy initiatives and serves as head of the Social Justice Commission within the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great. The office was established by the Provincial Chapter of 1973 as part of a broader effort to reorient the Province’s ministries and institutional priorities toward contemporary social concerns, including peace, economic justice, and human rights.
This collection documents the activities and responsibilities of the Promoter of Social Justice through correspondence, annual reports, planning documents, and materials generated by Regional and North American Promoters of Justice. Records reflect both internal provincial coordination and collaboration with wider Dominican and interprovincial justice networks. The materials primarily relate to the work of individual office holders rather than the administrative operations of the Provincial Council or Commission on Social Justice as a whole.
The collection spans the period following the establishment of the office in 1977 to 2009 and is arranged in a single box.
