Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series documents the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great’s long-standing relationship with the 8th Day Center for Justice. The Province was a founding member of the Center and maintained sustained involvement through governance, staffing, and programmatic collaboration over several decades. Multiple Dominican friars served on the Center’s staff and board, including Fr. Charles Dahm, OP, reflecting the depth of the Province’s institutional commitment to the Center’s mission.

Records in this series include board minutes, internal administrative documents, correspondence, financial and program files, and publications produced or collected by the Province in the course of its participation with the Center. Materials document governance activities, justice education and advocacy programs, food and intern initiatives, fundraising and financial oversight, and public outreach efforts.

The series spans from the early years of the Center’s founding in the 1970s through 2005, with publications extending into the early twenty-first century. While the Center itself continued operations until its closure in 2017, this series reflects the period during which records were accumulated by the Province. The series is arranged to distinguish administrative and program records from published materials.
