Scope and Contents
The Provincial Newsletter Collection documents internal communication within the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great from 1961 to 1999. Issued regularly for members of the Province, the newsletter served as a vehicle for sharing provincial news, community updates, administrative notices, obituaries, ministry reports, and reflections on religious life. It was intended for internal circulation and reflects the evolving priorities, concerns, and self-understanding of the Province over nearly four decades.
The collection consists primarily of published newsletter issues arranged chronologically and preserved in multiple parallel sets. Coverage varies by year, with the frequency of publication increasing over time. Early years include irregular issuance, while later periods reflect standardized monthly or near-monthly publication schedules. In some cases, volumes combine multiple years, most notably the combined Volume 18 that spanned 1978–1979.
In addition to the newsletters themselves, the collection includes supplemental materials distributed alongside the newsletter during selected years. These materials include inserts, announcements, and related documents intended to accompany regular issues and provide additional context or information to readers.
The collection is arranged in two series: Series I, Newsletter Issues, and Series II, Supplemental Materials. Newsletter issues are arranged chronologically by year and maintained in multiple complete. Supplemental materials are arranged by year. The collection spans from 1961 to 1999 and comprises multiple boxes.

General
Publication frequency varied over the life of the Provincial Newsletter. Early issues were produced irregularly, with two editions issued in 1961–1962, three editions annually from 1963 to 1964, and five editions annually from 1965 to 1969. Publication increased to ten editions in 1970 and eleven editions in 1971. From 1975 through 1977, the newsletter was issued in twelve editions per year. Issues for 1978 and 1979 were published as a combined volume (Volume 18) consisting of seventeen editions. From 1980 through 1984, twelve editions were issued annually. Publication frequency declined thereafter, with eight editions annually in 1985–1986, six editions annually from 1987 to 1991, and four editions annually from 1992 to 1999. The collection is preserved in multiple parallel physical sets. Issues from 1961 to 1975 are represented in three sets, each housed in a separate box. Issues from 1976 to 1987 are represented in two sets, and issues from 1988 to 1999 are represented in three sets. The sets contain substantially similar content and were retained for reference, preservation, and access purposes.
