Young Dominican Journal Collection
Scope and Contents
The Young Dominican journal collection spans the years 1946 to 1968 and contains the complete run of a triannual (later biannual) periodical created by novices at the Dominican Novitiate in Winona, Minnesota. The collection consists of two runs of 66 journals, 122 total, housed in a single archival box. Written and edited by the novices, the journals were created to promote vocations within the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great. The content includes theological reflections, novitiate and provincial news, and comics. Young Dominican ceased publication in 1968 when the novitiate relocated to Dubuque, Iowa.
The collection is organized chronologically and contains two complete runs of the journal. Due to the fragility of the materials, one complete run is kept as a reference copy.
