Abstract

The Vocations Promotion Collection covers the correspondence and administrative structures supporting vocational discernment and recruitment within the Province of St. Albert the Great. Spanning from 1952 to the present, the collection includes records, mostly correspondence and reports, from the Office of the Promoter of Vocations, separated into subseries by changing title, from Promoter of Vocations (1952–1969) to Director of Vocations (1969–1973), Coordinator of Vocations (1973–1981), and the reinstated Promoter of Vocations (1981–present). Additional materials include records from the Admissions Board (1970-1980) which reviews and votes on the admittance of novices.

Legal Status

This collection is available for research only upon contact of the Archivist. The materials are non-circulating.

Processing Information

Due to changes in the title and structure of the Office of the Promoter of Vocations, records created by individuals who served through multiple title changes have been arranged according to their position at the time of record creation. For example, materials from an individual serving as Director of Vocations (1969–1973) and later as Coordinator of Vocations (1973–1981) will be divided between the respective series.

However, where continuity of content is essential—such as ongoing correspondence or project files spanning multiple titles—records have been kept together under the later title, with cross-references provided in the finding aid. Researchers should review both series when searching for materials related to individuals who served across multiple title periods.
