Scope and Contents

This collection contains records relating to the publishing arm of the Province, The Priory Press, as well as small collection of books published by Priory Press that are arraigned as part of a series of publications instead of by author. It contains two series for the High School and College textbooks, with each series of textbooks comprising a subseries.

Biographical / Historical

The Priory Press was founded in 1952 to publish the writings of the Province and Dominican scholarship in general. The Priory Press published scholarly works by many Dominican authors, most notably Walter Farrell, author of the "Companion to the Summa", Benedict Ashley and Kevin O’Rourke. It also produced a series of college and high school textbooks that are in use to this day.

The Press closed in the early 2000's and was revived in 2013 as "New Priory Press" which continues its mission to promote the publications of Dominican intellectual thought today.
