Dominican Friars Historical Film Collection (Digital Copies)
Scope and Content
37 digitized films documenting the history of the Dominicans of the Province of St Albert the Great, including dedications, ordinations, historical milestones, special events, and celebrations. Additional films relate to the missions established in Nigeria, Ghana, Bolivia, and Peru. Film projects include St Dominic de Guzman: Preacher of Grace; To Preach the Word: the History of St Albert Province, prepared by Fr Richard Woods; the Song of Rachael, prepared at the students' summer camp in Menominee, Minnesota; and Watchdogs of the Lord, a vocational film made by the province. Titles have been retained from the original UNDA collection, including references to the original film identifiers which are also found in the UNDA collection. Two films have a second DVD-R copy.

Background
In 2018, the University of Notre Dame Archives (UNDA) approached the Province of St. Albert the Great about digitizing several films that were in danger of erosion. Approximately 40 films were selected and transfered to the UNDA holdings. Of the 40 films taken, only 37 were able to be scanned. Copies of the final digitized films on DVDs were given to the province. The digitized CD's are cataloged in this collection.

39 Items (39 DVD-R jewel cases.) : This collection consists of optical disc (DVD-R) access copies generated during the digitization of the province's historical film collection by the University of Notre Dame Archives.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Digital reference copies were provided to the Province of St. Albert the Great by the University of Notre Dame Archives following the processing and digitization of the physical collection in 2018.
